PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE

Georgetown University, Washington, DC, Instructor, 2006 – 2010; Assistant Professor, 2010 – Present

  • Teach physiology, pathophysiology, chemistry and physics courses for nursing and pre-med students
  • Co-founded ongoing neural networking group for Computer Science and Linguistics departments
  • Developing neural net course for Computer Science and Linguistics departments
  • Have patent pending (2017/0365183) “Intelligent Medical Hypertext Information Translator”
  • Have provisional patent (62/686,838) “Method and System for Parametric Speech Synthesis”
  • Engaged in current research involving applying neural nets to cross-language speech processing, including: 
  • Multi-lingual speech recognition which allows high performance for low resource languages
  • Rapidcross-language text-to-speech adaptation for speaker transmogrification
  • Automated Accent Reduction Assistant

  • Developed speech processing products including:
  • Noise reduction, speech enhancement, and speaker identification

  • Developed speech recognition and text-to-speech systems
  • Led team of linguists and programmers in developing applications of speech recognition and text-to-speech

  •  Developed an improved speech recognition engine for IBM’s continuous speech recognition products
  • Received patent, “Method for Word Spotting in Continuous Speech” (5,425,129)
  • Led development of expert system shell products
  • Served as assistant developer on Prolog interprete
